The Faithful Families National Training is for individuals and organizations interested in becoming Faithful Families Implementing Partners. This training is ideal for those who wish to implement the Faithful Families program in their local communities, but we will also discuss strategies for train-the-trainer programs.

During this training, you will:

  • Hear from the Faithful Families development team about the importance of faith-based health promotion.
  • Explore concrete strategies to implement environmental changes in faith communities, drawing on resources from the Faithful Families program.
  • Receive training on the Faithful Families curriculum, and develop a plan to train others in your community on the program.
  • Discuss strategies for train-the-trainer programs.
  • Develop an action plan to implement Faithful Families in your local community, and receive feedback from our development team on that plan.

The training will bring together a diverse set of faculty members and partners, from NC State University, the NC Division of Public Health, and other Faithful Families partners. We will also devote significant amount of time to hearing and learning from you.

Welcome and Introductions

Participants will introduce themselves and provide a summary of their interests in faith-based health promotion and plans to implement Faithful Families in their state or community.

10:00am – 11:00am

Understanding the Importance of Faith-Based Health Promotion

Participants will:

  • Understand the role faith communities can play in health promotion efforts.
  • Explain the theories used to develop the Faithful Families program.

11:00am – 11:15am

Move More Break

Curriculum demo

Participants will participate in a mock Faithful Families lessons, led by a Faithful Families health educator.

Noon – 1:15pm

Networking Lunch

1:15pm – 2:15pm

Curriculum Overview

Participants will understand the Faithful Families curriculum, including instructional tools and materials.

2:15pm – 4:00pm

Curriculum Practice, Teach Back, and Debrief

Participants will:

  • Work in small groups to practice delivering the Faithful Families curriculum and will receive feedback from training instructors.
  • Discuss their experiences of leading Faithful Families lessons and begin to develop a plan for implementing the program in their community setting.

Faithful Families Portal Overview

Participants will discover how they can use the Faithful Families Portal to manage and track Faithful Families programming.

Policy, Systems, and Environmental (PSE) Supports

Participants will:

  • Understand the importance of PSE changes to the Faithful Families program
  • Explore PSE changes that can be implemented in communities of faith.

Panel Discussion: PSE Changes in Action

Participants will:

  • Understand challenges and barriers to implementation of PSE changes.
  • Explore resources to overcome challenges and barriers.

Evaluation

Participants will understand and brainstorm practical ways to implement the Faithful Families evaluation tools.

1:45pm – 3:30pm

Action Planning and Feedback

Participants will:

  • Develop an action plan to implement Faithful Families in their setting.
  • Receive feedback on their action plan from training faculty.
  • Develop an action plan to create a training for Faithful Families in their community (if needed).

IMPORTANT: Your registration(s) cannot be confirmed until the registration fee(s) has(have) been paid in full. We must receive your payment on or before December 9, 2019 (30 days prior to training) in order to secure your registration.

Below, are the payment options and instructions. You may make an online payment (via Credit Card) or send a check. Partial payments will not be accepted.

OPTION 1: Online (via Credit Card)

  • To pay for the training online, please click here https://go.ncsu.edu/reporter
  • If you are paying for your own registration: On your home page, you will see the training listed as a course under "Upcoming Courses." Next to the course will be a "Pay" button. Click the pay button and REPORTER will take you through the online credit card payment system. In addition to your credit card information, you will also be asked to provide your organization’s name, name of the training participant, your order number, and the amount of your payment.
  • If you are paying for someone else's registration: You will need to create an account in the REPORTER system for yourself, sign in, and then search for the order by last name and/or order number by selecting "Pay for Order" under the "My Account" drop down in the upper right task bar.

Training Refund and Cancellation Policy

  • Training registrations canceled on or before December 9, 2019 (30 days prior to the training) will be fully refunded.
  • Registrations canceled after December 9, 2019 (30 days prior to the training) will not be refunded. Registration fees may be transferred to another individual.
  • No Shows will receive no refund of registration fees. 
  • In the event Faithful Families must cancel the training due to unforeseen circumstances, Faithful Families will refund the cost of registration. However, Faithful Families does not assume responsibility for any additional costs, charges, or expenses; to include, charges made for travel and lodging.
